Castlecomer Wellie Race continues to attract huge crowds

Thousands of people crowded the streets of Castlecomer to see the 30th Annual Castlecomer Wellington Race. Race Personality Kilkenny Senior Hurler Derek Lynn was joined by the first Wellie Queen Eileen Brennan at the head of the Parade. In what has been hailed as one of the best parades in the history of the event the Duffy Circus entry took home 1st prize in the major floats but in all honesty any one of the excellent floats could easily have claimed the prize. Michael Coyle claimed his third victory in a row in the mens race and Breda Mulcahy won the womens race. Weston Missouri's wellie race winner Bahia Brown was also present with her husband Patrick and admitted after the event that the race was a bit tougher than in Weston!
